May is coming to Maui!

May Day is Lei Day in Maui! May 1st from 10:00am - 2:00pm is Lei Day at the Maui Ocean Center, featuring live music by Braddah Poki and Eddie Liliko'i, local crafters, and lei contest. The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui's May Day Celebration in South Maui is also on May 1st. Stop by to see floral displays, Hawaiian entertainment, and the Royal Court procession. Be sure to leave room in your agenda on the evening of May 2nd for the Brothers Cazimero Annual Maui May Day Concert at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
The International Festival of Canoes, West Maui's "Signature Cultural Heritage Event," will run from 9am-5pm daily, May 18 - 31, in two Lahaina parks. Master carvers and canoe-makers dedicated to cultural revival come from all over the Pacific to create canoes from wood logs and demonstrate drum making, Hawaiian house thatching, tiki carving and other traditional skills. The Parade of Canoes and ceremonial launch of completed canoes, followed by a music festival at Kamehameha Iki Beach Park draws a close this two-week long celebration of Hawaiian culture.
The annual Holy Ghost Feast will be held at the Holy Ghost Church in Upcountry Maui on the weekend of May 26 & 27, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. This event features a farmers market, large rummage sale and small goods auction, laulau meals for sale, entertainment, games and craft booths. (808) 878-1261.
